community service Community Service Get involved and help make a difference in someone’s life. Local non-for profit agencies that FLNNC members are involved with include: Children’s Aid & Family Services: Children’s Aid and Family Services is one of northern New Jersey’s leading non-profit providers of human services and child welfare programs. Children’s Aid and Family Services was founded in 1899 as a child protection and adoption agency, and has placed over 10,000 children for adoption. Today, many of those served have suffered from more severe physical and emotional abuse and neglect, and have more serious behavioral and mental health issues, as well as social and learning challenges. As a result, they need more specialized treatment while living in the agency’s care in either a therapeutic group home or family foster home. In addition to placing children for adoption and foster care, the agency provides a range of community services to support vulnerable children and families. These services include early childhood education, eldercare, social skills groups for children, parenting workshops, substance abuse prevention education, and Baby Basics.
